NAKOMA CLUB HOUSE

The Nakoma Club house, located in the Sierra Mountains of North California, was originally designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1923. The drawings found in the archives were of the exterior only, so we completed the interior design on our own. The design includes the use of octagons, squares and rectangles which are accentuated by a variety of roof shapes. “The repetitive use of octagons is the predominant design element and can be found in the roof, central chimney mass and the entry sidewalk.

The focus of the club house is the Wigwam, the largest teepee, shaped as an octagon 52 feet across and 70 feet tall. It is constructed of red cedar siding and copper panels with ornaments painted in red, blue and gold.
